- Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cells: In accordance with UGC directives, MVP’s Arts, Commerce, and Science College, Khedgaon, established an Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cell as per UGC circular no. (D.O.No.1-2/2024(SCT/Circular)) in January 2025 to address the particular difficulties faced by underprivileged groups and offer a fair and efficient resolution of their complaints. This center aims to guarantee fair access to and participation in higher education for everyone and supports initiatives for the same, acknowledging that education is a vital instrument for attaining social and economic equality.
Aims and Objectives:
- Assure equitable representation and assistance for minority groups, SC, ST, OBC, and others in training and admissions.
- Create an open complaints procedure for underprivileged populations.
- Protect underprivileged groups’ rights and interests.
- Offer direction and advice on social, academic, and financial issues while making sure that policies are followed.
Primary Functions of Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cell: The primary functions of the Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cell, according to the UGC Guidelines and as specified in the letter of the Secretary, UGC, dated 26th January 2016, are
1. Raising awareness of the issues facing the underprivileged and marginalized segments of society in order to help colleges and universities perform better in the classroom and other areas of life.
2. To make the general public more aware of the issues facing the underprivileged segments of society.
3. To keep an eye on all of the government of India’s and state governments’ programs and policies concerning underprivileged and marginalized groups.
4. To guarantee the existence of a functional and efficient SC/ST Cell, as required by the Department Brochure on Reservation for SC, ST, and Other Backward Classes in Services.
5. To become a successful instrument for gender awareness and guarantee involvement in all socially relevant NSS and university/college activities.
- The Equal Opportunity and SC/ST Cell was created by the college to support and counsel student-teachers from underrepresented groups, including SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, and Divyangjan.
