The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the College students of Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level, Technical Institution of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU” which reflects the essence of democratic living. The aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 4 millions in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher education. Our college has a unit of 200 volunteers. These volunteers built the spirit of voluntary work to sustain community interaction. Our NSS unit brings our institution closer to the society. The objectives of NSS are to understand the capabilities of youth and engage them to problem solving process of identified needs and problems of society also to inculcate the sense of social and civic responsibilities. Under NSS students undertake various programmes in the college, in the adopted villages during the weekends or after college hours, such as :
- Cleanliness Drive on the College Campus
- Celebration of the Birth and Death Anniversaries of the various Leaders and Social Workers of repute and to conduct various activities like Debating Competitions, Essay writing Competitions etc.
- Organizing various types of awareness rallies in the village for the purposes like Tree Plantation, AIDS Awareness, Literacy Awareness, Collecting Funds for Social causes, Road Safety Movement, Health related issues, etc.
- Providing the opportunities to the students to attend various District, University, State & National level camps.
- Developing leadership qualities among the students.
- Organizing Blood Donation camps, cultural activities, and social activities in the adopted villages.
